Many clients have been helped by exploring their relationships in detail with the aim of understanding their problems. In the case of a couple, which is the most common relationship for this sort of counselling, each person explains their perception of the relationship, their feelings and the blocks they are experiencing.
They are then able to seek and find their own solutions. Where clients find this difficult, the counselling work needs to go deeper. Clients are therefore offered help to acknowledge and then to understand the influences, often from the past, which may be leading them to experience problems in the present.
These influences combined with the intense feelings that are part of a relationship significantly influence how a couple interact.
